Ivan Canu and K-pop: “A Brief History of K-pop”

For In Conversation, we met Ivan Canu for a dialogue dedicated to his book on K-pop and its global impact. During the conversation, Canu explained how K-pop goes beyond music, taking shape as a complex system in which aesthetics, storytelling, strategy, and dedication intertwine, contributing to its international success.

The book, Breve storia del K-pop, published by Salani Editore in 2024, is an illustrated essay that traces the evolution of the phenomenon, offering a clear and accessible perspective on its growth and distinctive features.

An illustrator and author active in publishing and visual culture, Ivan Canu is also the director of Mimaster Illustrazione, an international school dedicated to training illustrators. Throughout his career, he has curated numerous editorial and cultural projects, standing out for a contemporary approach deeply rooted in visual research.
